羅伯特·史密斯（Robert Smith），英國古大提琴（viola da gamba）與大提琴演奏家，來自英格蘭北部約克郡。長年致力於歷史樂器演奏與曲目發掘，以細膩的音樂詮釋與勇於探索的藝術精神，活躍於歐洲各大音樂節與舞台。2017 年，羅伯特發行錄音專輯，收錄新近發現的 Georg Philipp Telemann《古大提琴獨奏幻想曲》，獲《The Observer》盛讚其演奏「展現卓越不凡的音樂品質」。其錄音作品經常聚焦於鮮少被錄製的曲目，包括里拉琴式古提琴（lyra-viol）音樂，並曾與其恩師 Paolo Pandolfo 合作演出詹金斯（Jenkins）的二重奏作品，深受樂界好評。除古樂領域外，羅伯特亦積極跨足不同音樂風格與藝術形式，從作曲到跨界合作皆展現高度創造力。他曾於歷史氛圍濃厚的馬戲團帳篷中，為高難度雜技演員現場演奏其親自改編的 Metallica 作品，展現古樂器在當代語境中的全新可能。目前，羅伯特·史密斯任教於 Hochschule für Musik in Cologne（科隆音樂學院），擔任古大提琴與古大提琴演奏教授，致力於培育新世代演奏家，並持續拓展古大提琴在演奏、詮釋與創作上的邊界。

Robert Smith is a British violist da gamba and cellist from Yorkshire, England, known for his refined artistry and adventurous approach to early music. In 2017, he released a recording of newly discovered solo fantasias for viola da gamba by Georg Philipp Telemann, praised by The Observer for its “exceptional musical quality.” His recordings frequently present repertoire recorded for the first time, including lyra-viol music, and acclaimed duo works by Jenkins performed with his former teacher Paolo Pandolfo. Beyond historical performance, Robert actively explores cross-genre and interdisciplinary collaborations, including performances of his own arrangements of Metallica in unconventional settings. He is currently Professor of Viola da Gamba and Baroque Cello at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne.
